Introduction

Synapse ("the App") is an interactive storytelling desktop application developed by Clyrex ("we", "us", "our"). Synapse lets you play and interact with stories powered by large language models (LLMs). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Data We Collect

To provide the App, we collect the following information:

• Email address — Used to create and secure your account. When you sign in, we send a one-time verification code to your email to confirm it belongs to you.
• Password — Stored only in a hashed (encrypted) form. We never store or have access to your password in plain text.
• Display name — The name shown on your profile.
• Profile picture — An optional image you upload for your profile.
• Your activity — The stories you play, create, or interact with, along with likes and similar in-app actions. This is used to save your progress and personalize your experience.
• Story content & prompts — The text you write or the choices you make while playing a story. This is processed to generate story responses (see "AI & Large Language Models" below).
• Technical & diagnostic data — Basic device and error information used to keep the App running reliably and to fix bugs.

How We Use Your Data

• To create, authenticate, and secure your account.
• To save your stories, progress, likes, and profile.
• To generate interactive story content through AI models.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the App.
• To communicate with you about your account (for example, verification codes).

We do not sell your personal data.

AI & Large Language Models

Synapse uses third-party large language model (LLM) providers to generate story content. When you play a story, the text of your inputs and relevant story context is sent to the LLM provider to produce a response. This content is processed to deliver the feature you requested and is subject to the provider's own terms and privacy practices. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information into story prompts.

Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following types of third-party services that may process data:

• LLM / AI providers — Process story prompts and generate responses.
• Authentication & email delivery — Send verification codes and manage secure sign-in.
• Cloud hosting & storage — Store your account, profile, and saved stories so they are available across sessions.
• Analytics & crash reporting — Help us understand usage and fix errors.

Data Storage & Security

Your account data is stored on secured cloud infrastructure. All data transmitted between the App and our services is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are stored only in hashed form. While no system can be guaranteed 100% secure, we apply industry-standard measures to protect your information.

Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and saved content are removed as described on our Account & Data Deletion page.

Children's Privacy

Synapse is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Your Rights

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
